The Egyptian Study Society (ESS) is a Colorado non-profit organization devoted to adult education and the study of ancient Egypt. ESS was formed in 1987 following the exhibit Ramses II: The Great Pharaoh and His Time at the Denver Museum of Natural History by volunteers who worked on that exhibit and wanted to continue learning about ancient Egypt. ESS was affiliated with and met in Ricketson Auditorium at the museum up until January 2019. In January 2019, ESS began meeting at Red Rocks Community College. The Egyptian Study Society brings in world-renowned speakers, as well as local ESS members, to present monthly meetings on all aspects of ancient Egypt and its culture. Our normal monthly meeting time is the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m, January - November. Meetings consist of announcements followed by a lecture that lasts for about an hour, followed by a period for Q & A with the speaker. Hampden Hall Englewood Civic Center, 2nd Floor 1000 Englewood Pkwy, Englewood, CO 80110
It is the mission of the Egyptian Study Society, Inc. to provide educational programs to its members and to the general public relevant to the culture and history of ancient Egypt, to promote cultural understanding of the heritage of the ancient Near East, and to promote interest in the study of Egyptology to the Colorado community. |
